This Month in Positive World News, January 2019

Scouts

If you spend any time looking at the news you will see violence, war, hunger, pain, and anger. It is hard to imagine that we live in a wonderful world, but positive news stories are out there if you aren’t too exhausted to find them after weeding through the negative ones.

Recognizing global issues is a vital part of becoming a well-informed citizen. However, we cannot conquer those problems until we recognize the strengths and values of individuals in this world. The news stories below address real global issues such as conflict and climate change, but many of the stories help us to see how young people can contribute to positive social change.

Let’s set aside a little time each month to recognize and celebrate the positive side of the news and help students develop a balanced world view.

Here is a sampling of positive world news from January 2019.
